The VA-8020-1 is a synchronous, force-sensor-limited actuator that provides floating/incremental control for 1/2 and 3/4 in. valves in many HVAC applications. The VA-8020-1 is a motor-driven, non-spring return electric valve actuator.
Features
- provides floating/incremental control from a three-wire, nominal 24 VAC input signal
- simplified setup and adjustment procedures reduce installation costs
- provides 22 lb (98 N) minimum shutoff force
- compact assembly fits most unit vent and baseboard applications
The Johnson Controls VA-8020-1 Valve Actuator; ELECTRIC; 22# INCR Control 5/16″STRK 24VAC
The VA-8020 actuator accepts a 24 VAC signal from a compatible controller. The controller sends 24 VAC to either the up or down wires depending on the desired movement of the valve. This signal drives the actuator motor causing the valve stem to move in the desired direction for the application. When the controller stops sending a signal, the valve stem remains in position. The actuator uses a reversible synchronous motor to accurately position the valve. This can reliably generate 22 pounds of shutoff force in either the Drive Down or Drive Up direction. Once the valve closes, a shutoff force builds up. When this force reaches 22 pounds, a lever within the actuator operates a force sensor that stops the motor. The constant load at the end of travel ensures tight valve seat shutoff and compensates for seat wear. Field calibration of shutoff is not required. The actuator maintains the shutoff force even if power to the actuator is removed.
